Union Jack Bag Pattern

Union Jack Bag Pattern

£2.00

What better way to show your dedication to British farmers, sheep and yarns than by making a union flag bag?! The red, white and blue really says everything you need it to say, but if you fancy being more individual play around with subtle or wacky colour and texture combinations. Felting is a fun way to transform soft yarns into practical accessories by just throwing them in the washing machine! Texere Troon Tweed is spun in oil, so knits very easily and totally changes when washed. Texere Airedale Aran is softer, without flecks and felts even easier. Try combining the two for unusual textures & effects.
This pattern has two designs included - red-white-blue & Green style bags

Going on Holiday? Don't Forget Your Chunky Yarn Sweater!

Although a chunky yarn garment might not be the first thing you think of when packing for your holiday, it could be extremely useful. A jumper will get you dry after swimming, keep you warm when the sun goes down and even help you sleep.

When the sun is blazing down and the temperature shoots up, it's hardly surprising that anything made from a chunky yarn is likely to be far from your mind. However, when you're packing your swimming costume and suntan lotion, here are some reasons why including that sweater might be a good idea.

Warming up After a Dip

If you've been in the sea or the pool, it only takes a little breeze or the sun popping behind a cloud to really make you feel the drop in temperature. A sturdy jumper, pullover or anything with a chunky yarn will soon get you warmed up and ready to carry on enjoying yourself - and all in a matter of minutes, so you don't lose any valuable beach time!

Keeping Cosy at Festivals

We're often well prepared for sunshine and rain at festivals, but it's easy to forget that campsites and arenas get extremely cold late at night, especially once the crowds start thinning out and the dancing stops. Wherever you are in the world, a chunky yarn sweater is vital festival gear for those late nights and early mornings. You'll feel warm and cosy, and it's an easy luxury to take with you.

There's also the fact that festivals can make you feel a little dirty and homesick for your creature comforts after a few days, so having a nice toasty sweater waiting for you in your tent, that remains there and stays clean and dry, will be a welcoming thing to clamber into at the end of a long day in the open air.

Perfect Pillows for Campers

If there's one thing we all forget to take when we go camping, or even on long journeys by public transport, it's a pillow. But if you've packed your chunky yarn sweater or cardigan, all is not lost! Roll it up and cover it in a t-shirt, and you have a ready made pillow that will be soft and comfortable, giving you a decent night's sleep.

If you're on the road, you can also use your sweater as a makeshift travel pillow, either for yourself or any weary travelling companions who want to prop themselves up against you.

A thick chunky yarn sweater may not be the first choice of travel garments for summer, but if you make room for one in your luggage you'll definitely be glad you did!
