As the temperature drops and the Christmas season approaches, what better excuse to get wrapped up nice and warm in this season's latest designs. Shopping on the high street for winter wardrobe staples can cost a fortune. Invest in double knitting wool and save yourself a bundle.
The Cable Knit - Getting wrapped up to brave the cold is one of life's little pleasures and looking good is easy, even on a budget. Learning how to knit cables can make your woolly jumpers and sweaters stand out. A cable knit jumper is made up of vertically knitted panels bordered by purl stitches that are designed to show off the cable design. If you are new to knitting cables, start off slowly with a small knitted garment such as a pair of mittens or a woollen hat.
The Snood - This is the latest garment on the high street that is a cross between a scarf and a hood that when knitted can enhance your outfit instantly. These garments look stunning in every colour and are ideal for beginners. The design itself makes quite an impact and can be knitted using one block colour. Dig out your double knitting wool and create comfy accessories to keep you toasty this winter.

Magic Plus by Bergere de France Knitting Pattern - 286.57
What a fabulous design this is, knitted in Magic + aran by Bergere de France. The poncho element creates swing and drape, however the addition of sleeves adds a practicality that you don't get in a regular poncho! The fabulous cabling and cosy roll neck have made this the bestselling knitting pattern Bergere de France have ever created and we can see why. Knit from Magic + which is a standard aran weight yarn available in some contemporary and classic shades, although you could use any aran yarn, just check your tension first. Try Bonus Aran Tweed for a tweedy, budget yarn or Inti Alpaca for a really luxurious version.

This is one of the best craft products you will ever come across and if you've never used a flower loom before you could quite easily get addicted! The basic premise is that you can make "flowers" or "rosettes" by winding yarn round the pegs of the loom. You then stitch through the yarns on the loom, which holds everything together, pop the whole thing off and you have your flower. The beauty of this loom, unlike rigid flower looms, is that the pegs are interchangeable so you can create four different sizes and each of them can be round or square.
