Sock making is experiencing something of a renaissance, mainly created by the wonderful self-patterned yarns now available. This 4ply yarn by King Cole is 50% superwash wool and 50% nylon giving excellent strength to your socks, whilst providing wonderful colour combinations. As you knit the patterns and stripes appears before your eyes, taking all the hard work out of colour changing. As Zig Zag is a standard 4ply it can be combined with other 4ply sock yarns to create contrasting stripes, heels or toes or treated as a regular 4ply for any other garment or accessories. Perfect for knitting or crocheting to 4ply patterns by hand or on a standard gauge machine. 500g goes an awful long way and should give you a garment of 35/36". Chenille also makes excellent, soft braids and tassels and weaves into soft fabrics with a lovely velvety pile, as well as being perfect to couch into traditional embroideries.

A range of soft, smooth 100% acrylic yarns with a glowing lustre. New Fancy Acrylic is a roving type yarn with a soft spin and a binder twisted throughout to give the yarn to give a slight boucle effect. We would recommend knitting it as approx 4ply either by hand or on a standard gauge machine - though a tension square is recommended. The soft sheen adds a gloss to your work and the strength of the yarn makes it suitable for weaving, braids and tassels, as well as knitting and crochet.

We are having a grand clearout of chenille "run-ends" to make space for our new Paradise & Plush chenille ranges. This discontinued range includes Acrylic chenille, Moroccan chenille and Haworth chenille. The majority of yarns are 4ply (unless otherwise stated) and can be knitted on a standard gauge machine or by hand. Chenille is not only great for knitting and crochet, but makes excellent soft braids, weaves into beautiful light fabrics and can be couched into velvety embroideries.

The success of the Mirasol Project has lead to three gorgeous new fairly traded yarns being added to the range and Chirapa is the space-dyed one. This is fabulous hand dyed knitting yarn spun from 100% merino wool in a wonderful range of rich, bright combinations and dark, dramatic shades. It falls somewhere between a 4ply and a DK, so choose a pattern from the lovely Mirasol Pattern books or knit a tension square first. Bramwell 4ply fine acrylic is a classic 100% acrylic yarn that has been produced for years.
