Texere Troon Aran Wool Felted Bag & Purse Knitting Pattern 004

Texere Troon Aran Wool Felted Bag & Purse Knitting Pattern 004

£1.50

Here is a knitting pattern for a felted bag and purse using Texere Troon Tweed aran. The yarn is used double for the bag meaning you'll have it knitted up in no time and the little purse only uses one ball - so great, quick gifts. The transformation of the non-felted bag when you take it out of the washing machine is brilliant and the rigidity of the bag means it doesn't even need lining! All the shades of Troon are marled or tweedy, so even if you don't want stripes you could achieve a lovely textured effect with very little effort.

This gorgeous yarn is spun from 100% lambswool and is available in the most delectable range of colourways. Olympia is a chunky, roving style yarn with glorious combinations creating marls and subtle colour blends throughout. It has the look of Rowan Colourscape or Noro Iro which are both chunky yarns, so you could knit to these patterns or any chunky pattern, just check your tension first. Being pure wool Olympia felts brilliantly to create thick, soft felted pieces. The yarn isn't a slub, but has a handspun feel with thicker and thinner sections to create a fabulous, slightly textured finish, meaning every garment will be unique. There can also be quite an amazing variation from batch to batch, so please ensure you order enough to complete your project as orders will be picked by eye because there are no dye lots. A lightly twisted pure wool perfect for felting, spinning, knitting and most especially used for Italian quilting and Trapunto work. Spinners may know this yarn as pencil roving.

We have had this yarn specially made for us due to numerous requests from quilters. They now have a perfect yarn for Italian quilting and Trapunto work at a fraction of branded prices. A branded skein would cost approx ?2.90 for just 25g, so if you wanted the equivalent of one skein of Bella it would cost you ?23.20! I think you can see which the most economical wool is - but if you don't think you'll use 200g club together and share a skein with your quilting friends.
