Summer Stripes is a gorgeous new double knitting yarn by Sirdar, which is a stripy version of Calico. It has the same lovely blend of 60% cotton and 40% acrylic creating a soft, muted yarn, perfect for spring and summer hand knits. Rather than being space-dyed, Summer Stripes is a shaded yarn creating big blocks of colours, with random patterning meaning each piece you knit will be unique.  | Empress Multi Crochet Cotton
A soft, strong 100% mercerised cotton yarn with a lovely lustre. It is available in a few space-dyed shades to compliment the solid colour range & gives a shaded effect without having to change colours. Empress crochet cotton yarn is perfect for delicate crochet work as it has a smooth appearance and will give excellent stitch definition. You can also knit, braid or tassel with Empress crochet cotton yarn as it has a lovely drape, or weave it into strong, smooth fabrics. This is an 8 gauge cotton or 10/3cc which is similar to a 3ply and needs a 3.25mm crochet hook or needles.

**Unfortunately Kool Kotton has now been discontinued, but don't fear as it has been replaced by "Cotton On", which is another yarn by J C Bretts in a very similar blend, but with a slightly different twist. Kool Kotton is a lovely, soft blend of 50% cotton yarn and 50% acrylic yarn in a DK weight. The blend gives the yarn a lighter feel than a pure cotton making it really versatile. It looks great knitted into summery tops and cardigans for women and is also excellent for knitting into garments and accessories for children and babies including shawls and blankets. The range includes muted, sophisticated shades, classic white and cream and brighter vibrant shades for a splash of colour. Knit to any DK pattern.

 | Penguin Cotton
We have had lots of enquiries for fine cotton and here is a special purchase of limited supplies of both ercerised and soft cotton yarns. The Emperor mercerised is very similar to Perle 12.
100% Pure Cotton
2/16cc - 1350m per cone. Both yarns are exactly the same count, however the mercerised looks slightly thinner as it has a slightly tighter twist.
The Emperor is perfect for weaving in the warp or weft and we would recommend the King for weft. Both will give you soft, lightweight fabrics with a lovely drape. Also excellent for delicate lacemaking and embroidery, crochet and knitting, braids and tassels.
As we bought the yarn from a company called Penguin we have named the mercerised cotton "Emperor" and the soft cotton "King" for clear identification.

Pure Cotton. Hand wash, dry flat, cool iron whilst slightly damp.

Sirdar have produced a great pattern book of designs, but it will also knit to any other DK patterns.

It has been manufactured from organic cotton with an ecologically and socially conscious process through the Bio Re textile chain. The yarn is dyed with non toxic dyes in recyclable water which has given Debbie the opportunity to have a wonderfully vibrant palette still within the organic concept. Organic cotton yarns are notoriously difficult to produce, so it's brilliant to have a bright, colourful yarn with such ethical credentials. Now that Eco Baby has arrived, this original Eco has been re-named Eco Aran, so ballbands maybe different, but the yarn is the same!

Debbie Bliss began her Fairtrade Collection with Eco aran and here is the new arrival to the range - Eco Baby. The cotton yarn is a heavy 4ply/light DK (the same as her famous baby cashmerino). It has been manufactured from 100% organic cotton with an ecologically and socially conscious process through the Bio Re textile chain. The cotton yarn is dyed with non toxic, non carcinogenic dyes and the water is recycled and rendered drinkable by Idra (a non profit making organization). This dyeing process has given Debbie the opportunity to have a wonderfully vibrant palette still within the organic concept. Organic cotton yarns are notoriously difficult to produce, so it's brilliant to have a bright, colourful yarn with such ethical credentials.

Aimee is a gorgeous yarn created by Louisa Harding in a luxurious blend of 90% cotton and 10% cashmere. The combination has been spun into a DK (approx) yarn that is soft, fine and delicate with a light twist. The colours echo the rich and lacquered shades of pink and red combined with jade and charcoal, alongside faded and antiqued coral, bronze and opal. Louisa has created a fabulous collection of designs using Aimee, and its sister yarn Fleuris, called Chinoiserie. The designs are super-stylish with an oriental twist taking inspiration from motifs and shapes seen throughout the Far East. Knit a tension square first if you'd like to knit this yarn to other double knitting patterns.
