Magic Plus by Bergere de France Knitting Pattern - 286.57

2.50

What a fabulous design this is, knitted in Magic + aran by Bergere de France. The poncho element creates swing and drape, however the addition of sleeves adds a practicality that you don't get in a regular poncho! The fabulous cabling and cosy roll neck have made this the bestselling knitting pattern Bergere de France have ever created and we can see why. Knit from Magic + which is a standard aran weight yarn available in some contemporary and classic shades, although you could use any aran yarn, just check your tension first. Try Bonus Aran Tweed for a tweedy, budget yarn or Inti Alpaca for a really luxurious version.

(Please note that this design is also featured in Creations 2011/2012 along with 52 other patterns for just £6.95).

Flower Loom

Flower Loom

9.90

This is one of the best craft products you will ever come across and if you've never used a flower loom before you could quite easily get addicted! The basic premise is that you can make "flowers" or "rosettes" by winding yarn round the pegs of the loom. You then stitch through the yarns on the loom, which holds everything together, pop the whole thing off and you have your flower. The beauty of this loom, unlike rigid flower looms, is that the pegs are interchangeable so you can create four different sizes and each of them can be round or square.

Double Top CottonDouble Top Cotton
Double Top is our own double knitting pure soft cotton in a wide range of colours ideal for knitting, crochet and weaving. This yarn is made exclusively for us and dyed to our specific colour scheme including lots of bright, rich shades as well as dark, subtle shades that you tend not to find very often in cotton yarns. (Good Fortune is the 4ply version of this yarn in the same colour scheme, but half the thickness).

Double Top Cotton DK is perfect for knitting by hand or on a chunky machine or crocheting to DK patterns, but it's also a great all round craft yarn being excellent for weaving and knotting crafts as it has a soft, but strong handle. Soft, matt cotton such as Double Top is highly absorbant making it excellent for turning into colourful tea towels, dishcloths, wash cloths, bathmats or placemats (whether knitted, crocheted or woven).

100% pure soft cotton. Cool hand wash, dry flat and cool iron.
Double Knitting (4/4cc) thickness - 410m per cone, 85m per ball, 20m per spool.

We have a few colours that are specials and will not be dyed again. There is plenty of all of them in stock, but please call us if you need to know specific quantities available - they are marked **

Freedom Echo Cotton by Twilleys

Freedom Echo Cotton by Twilleys

Echo Freedom is a gorgeous 100% recycled cotton double knitting yarn by Twilleys, in a small range of gentle, muted shades. The yarn is strong, but feels remarkably soft, with a slight texture giving it a natural look, much like bourette silk. What's great is that the yarn is totally recycled from either 100% denim or a blend of recycled denim and recycled coloured cotton so there has been no dyeing process, and in turn this gives a slightly tweedy, flecky effect to each of the colours. Knit as DK to most double knitting patterns including the fabulous Union Flag pattern to accompany the yarn.

Duo Plus Comfort by AdriafilDuo Plus Comfort by Adriafil
DuoPlus is a lovely worsted weight, soft Fairisle effect yarn spun from 52% wool and 48% cotton perfect for the simplest of knitting stitches and will create some unusual crochet effects. This great yarn does all the work for you as the jacquard type patterns develop before your eyes. This cotton blend gives a light, spring time type feel and all the shades have a slightly "denim" effect due to a fine white thread twisted through all the shades. Perfect for knitting into multi-coloured garments and also brilliant for socks and accessories where the colours and patterns develop in a really interesting way.

Worsted is a weight that falls between DK and aran, so choose a double knitting or aran pattern and knit a tension square or choose a worsted pattern (especially Adriafil pattern). Just remember to knit a tension square first if you don't use an Adriafil pattern to double check your gauge.

Moonlight Sonata DK by J C BrettMoonlight Sonata DK by J C Brett
This is a fantastic double knitting yarn with a light, soft, hairy feel spun from 10% mohair, 10% wool, 75% acrylic and 5% metallic. Fine mohair yarns are brilliant because although they knit as double knitting, they have the meterage of a much finer yarn (nearer a 3ply), so you only need a couple of balls for a garment! Sonata is a shaded yarn that gradually changes from one colour to another throughout you project, so you get a subtle and interesting effect without any effort. This metallic yarn has a fine twinkly thread running through it to add a bit of bling to your knitwear and you may recognise it as the new version of Reflection by Creative Yarns. Knit to Sonata, Aria and Reflection patterns.
Aria DK by J C Brett

Aria DK by J C Brett

This is a fantastic double knitting yarn with a light, soft, hairy feel sprinkled with sequins spun from 9% mohair, 9% wool, 68% acrylic, 10% polyester and 4% payette (which I think is sequins)!! Fine mohair yarns are brilliant because although they knit as double knitting, they have the meterage of a much finer yarn (nearer a 3ply), so you only need a few balls for a garment! Aria has tiny sequins threaded throughout, giving a subtle twinkle when they catch the light. Knit to Aria, Sonata and Reflection patterns.

Sirdar Snuggly Baby BambooSirdar Snuggly Baby Bamboo
Sirdar Snuggly Baby Bamboo in my humble opinion is not a very good name for this gorgeous yarn. Babies love the soft feel and gentle lustre, but so do us grown-ups! It's a DK, spun from 80% bamboo and 20% wool making it perfect as a summery yarn to knit into tops and wraps, with the wool providing that bit of warmth on a chilly evening. It has a lovely drape and a lustre similar to that of a mercerised cotton. The range of colours is ever-increasing to now include rich, bright shades that would suit all the family.

King Cole Merino Wool Blend Double KnittingKing Cole Merino Wool Blend Double Knitting
The ever-popular merino blend family now includes all four thicknesses of standard knitting weight yarn (4ply, DK, aran and chunky) in a wide range of gorgeous colours. The standard double knitting weight is ideal for knitting or crocheting by hand into adults, children and baby clothes, toys, cushions and accessories. An all round brilliant yarn in lots of lovely colours.

Merino blend double knitting is really practical too as it can be machine washed at 40 C, then cool iron and dry flat if possible. It wears and washes really well as it's anti-pill and non-shrink, but it does mean it's no good for felters!

Eco Baby Cotton Yarn by Debbie BlissEco Baby Cotton Yarn by Debbie Bliss
Debbie Bliss began her Fairtrade Collection with Eco aran and here is the new arrival to the range - Eco Baby. The cotton yarn is a heavy 4ply/light DK (the same as her famous baby cashmerino). It has been manufactured from 100% organic cotton with an ecologically and socially conscious process through the Bio Re textile chain. The cotton yarn is dyed with non toxic, non carcinogenic dyes and the water is recycled and rendered drinkable by Idra (a non profit making organization). This dyeing process has given Debbie the opportunity to have a wonderfully vibrant palette still within the organic concept. Organic cotton yarns are notoriously difficult to produce, so it's brilliant to have a bright, colourful yarn with such ethical credentials.
