King Cole

Riot is a fabulous double knitting yarn created by King Cole from a blend of 30% wool and 70% acrylic. It is a shaded yarn with a "Noro" appearance where the colours are rich and dramatic and blend seamlessly from one shade to another. In something of a departure for King Cole their designers have created knitting patterns aimed at a younger audience with contemporary styling, asymmetric shapes, sweater dresses and ruffles. These show the colours off brilliantly, but there are also some classic designs for those of you not quite as bold!!

King Cole have now introduced an aran weight to their enormously popular merino blend range. It's 100% pure wool in a range of muted, classic and bright shades. Perfect for knitting into traditional cabled and contemporary styles for adults and children. The special 'anti-tickle' treatment means it's lovely to wear against the skin making it ideal for sensitive skins in both the old and young, and being machine washable it's really practical too. This yarn is anti-pill and non-shrink, so no good for felters!

Sock making is experiencing something of a renaissance, mainly created by the wonderful self-patterned yarns now available. This 4ply yarn by King Cole is 50% superwash wool and 50% nylon giving excellent strength to your socks, whilst providing wonderful colour combinations. As you knit the patterns and stripes appears before your eyes, taking all the hard work out of colour changing. As Zig Zag is a standard 4ply it can be combined with other 4ply sock yarns to create contrasting stripes, heels or toes or treated as a regular 4ply for any other garment or accessories. One ball will knit a pair of socks (up to "large man" says the pattern) and we will enclose a FREE PATTERN with every purchase.

1800m per 500g cone, 180m per 50g cone. Knit on 3.25mm pins with 28 stitches and 36 rows to a 10cm tension square.
Machine wash at 40 C, cool iron and dry flat. This yarn is non-shrink and anti-pill. Unfortunately some shades of this yarn are now discontinued - they are marked with **, but we still have some stocks to be going on with and we will try and keep the site as up to date as we can. This is completely out of our hands and we apologise for any inconvenience caused. Good news - King Cole have re-introduced some of the bright shades they discontinued!!

Please note that although this is a standard weight DK some customers find that it doesn't go quite as far as expected, so please be aware of this and order more, rather than less if you are unsure. The colour range includes delicate pastel shades, as well as some denim shades brilliant for little jeans and denim jackets -fantastic.
