Here is a knitting pattern for a felted bag and purse using Texere Troon Tweed aran. The yarn is used double for the bag meaning you'll have it knitted up in no time and the little purse only uses one ball - so great, quick gifts. The transformation of the non-felted bag when you take it out of the washing machine is brilliant and the rigidity of the bag means it doesn't even need lining! All the shades of Troon are marled or tweedy, so even if you don't want stripes you could achieve a lovely textured effect with very little effort.

To accompany our Laines du Nord yarns we are offering three knitting pattern books at an unbeatable price. The patterns are straightforward and the stitches are simple to follow with stitch techniques such as lace patterns and colour work. There are patterns for eight accessories making it perfect for beginners to have a go. They include wraps, scarves, a hat and the cosy creation on the cover! There are also eight garment patterns including a gorgeous Opaline cardigan as well as jumpers, tops and a waistcoat making the booklet excellent for more experienced knitters. Although we don't stock many of the yarns why not have a go at using some substitutes and experimenting with textures to recreate the effects. Jane uses a kid mohair very similar to La Salute, fancy yarns like Vegas as well as smooth and classic aran and chunkies.
