Here is a knitting pattern for a felted bag and purse using Texere Troon Tweed aran. The yarn is used double for the bag meaning you'll have it knitted up in no time and the little purse only uses one ball - so great, quick gifts. The transformation of the non-felted bag when you take it out of the washing machine is brilliant and the rigidity of the bag means it doesn't even need lining! All the shades of Troon are marled or tweedy, so even if you don't want stripes you could achieve a lovely textured effect with very little effort. find out more

This is a fabulous recycled pure linen yarn in lots of fabulous colours with a 24% discount when buying bulk quantities. An excellent yarn for weaving in the warp and weft, macrame and braiding, knitting and crochet. This strong yarn is also excellent for braids and tassels and any project needing a strong yarn in rich, muted shades or subtle neutrals. The yarn is fairly crisp and has little drape making it excellent for knitting or crocheting into vessels, placements and bags.
However, knit or crochet it into garments, throw in the washing machine and tumble drier and it transforms into a soft, wearable yarn. We've also designed a brilliant string bag to create your very own "bag for life". One spool will make two bags - see the patterns section of the site for more details.
Originally this yarn was 4 fold 10's metric. However, there were only 5 shades (Connemara) and there was demand for more colours. We have now added more, but some of these recent yarns are finer than the originals. This means that the yarns may, in some cases, be of differing thicknesses from colour to colour - equivalent to approx 10/4 - 10/3nm and the meterage per spool is between 900m-1200m.
Large size cones for bulk requirements now available in five of the shades of this strong linen. This yarn is excellent for warps and wefts and the large cones are an easy and very economical way of working, saving you over 75%!! Pure linen with a good natural sheen. A fine single yarn - 10/1nm - approx 250m per spool and approx 9000m per cone. For weaving in the warp or weft. This strong yarn is also excellent for lacemaking, braids and tassels and any project needing a strong yarn in rich, muted shades or subtle neutrals. Although this is a bargain offer we have quite a large stock of the cones, but at this new price they won't last long. The equivalent cost of a cone based on the spool price would be £40, so take advantage of this fantastic saving. Cones are a minimum of 900g, but may be more.
