To accompany our Laines du Nord yarns we are offering three knitting pattern books at an unbeatable price. The patterns in this book use smooth and classical luxurious yarns and they are knitted into simple shapes and pretty patterns to show the yarn off to its best. Jane has used stitch techniques such as lace, ribs, scallops and stripes to give texture and interest to the designs. There are 15 designs including wraps and a scarf, jumpers, tops, cardigans and a snuggly blanket. Although we don't stock many of the yarns why not have a go at using some substitutes and experimenting with textures to recreate the effects. Mirasol Collection Book Three by Jane Ellison
The third Mirasol Book brings together garments for women, men and children and uses siz of the Miarsol yarn collection - Miski, Sulka, Hacho, Q'ina, Tupa and Chirapa. Purchasing the yarns and books supports communities in rural Peru where the yarns originate. The photos are shot much closer to home this time at the beautiful National Trust properties of East Riddlesden Hall and Brimham Rocks in West Yorkshire. The first having strong historical ties with the textile industry and the latter providing a strong landscape and dramatic contrast between dark rock and soft, colourful yarn. The bright shades in the Tupa and Q'ina yarn ranges have inspired Jane's designs and this time they include 30 patterns for garments and accessories for men and children as well as women. The book shows an update of the Mirasol Project and the amazing progress that knitters buying these fantastic yarns has made. This is the first accessories book Jane has written for the Mirasol Collection. The design process started with playing with one hank of yarn to see what she could produce from that extra hank of yarn you might have brought for a knitting project but didn't need and were left wondering what to do with it. Or maybe you see one of the Mirasol Yarns and would like to try it out so buy just one hank. This book gives ideas and patterns to knit something to keep and treasure or give to a loved one as a precious gift. Jane said, ?I've also been talking to many people who would like to knit, either they used to or haven't picked up needles since they were children, but are a little hesitant to start with a garment. In this book Jane has designed 20 garments and 10 accessories for men, women and children. The garments are stylish and easy to knit and there are some lovely simple stitch techniques to give a chunky or patterned effect. Jane says that she?s trying not to repeat herself and these garments are definitely different from her previous Mirasol books. There are longer line shapes for the girls with funky sweater dresses, tunics, waistcoats and cardis. The boys have more classic designs with lots of ribs and texture and for the kids there are fun, colourful and texture filled knits that they won?t want to take off. The accessories include a very Peruvian inspired throw with the classic alpaca/llama and inca symbols making an appearance.
