"SPICE & SPARKLE" CHRISTMAS WORKSHOP WITH CLAIRE KETTEMAN & HELEN AGARWAL
03.12.11 DAY WORKSHOP (10:30am-2:30pm)

Get set for a shimmering Christmas with our crystal organza extravaganza! In this class, you'll create a unique festive fabric by trapping sparkling threads, sequins and spices between layers of colourful organza.
Next you'll embellish the fabric with hand and machine embroidery, beading and sequins, needlefelting and stitching to give it extra bling and glamour!
Finally, you'll turn your custom-produced fabric into seasonal ornaments and decorations, gift bags or corsages and any leftovers will make perfect additions for greetings cards. You'll go home with at least one finished article (probably more) and lots more ideas for using your new technique.
Our mill shop will also be open on the 3rd, so perhaps you can combine some making with some last minute shopping too!

*the course fee includes all the materials needed to complete your workshop, but we suggest that you may like to bring some beads, threads, snippets of Christmassy or twinkly fabric to individualise your fabric.

03.09.11 MORNING WORKSHOP (10am-12.45pm)

Mixed Media Beads & Jewellery - Using Lutradur and Tyvex learn how to manipulate these unusual materials into wearable works of art, whether necklaces, bracelets or brooches. Add fabric paint, stitches, sequins and wire to create unique pieces of jewellery.

£25 (TBC) (includes assorted materials and fabric paint).

Please bring any small beads, sequins or scraps of wire to embellish your jewellery.

You'll come away with lots of beads ready to string into a necklace or bracelet or a few pieces that can be used as a brooch or corsage for your lapel or to decorate a hand made bag.

MIXED MEDIA EMBROIDERY WITH HELEN AGARWAL
03.09.11 AFTERNOON WORKSHOP (1.15pm-4pm)

Stitched Postcards - Create a postcard-sized work of art! Hang it on your wall or post it off to a friend. When you work on a canvas this small, you can achieve a lot in a short space of time. It can be an opportunity to try out new techniques or showcase something you already do well. It's a brilliant way of using up odds and ends...or a chance to indulge in expensive materials because you need so little of them.

It's also pure play. You can bond, collage, sew, embellish...then add buttons, beads, hand or machine embroidery. Abstract or figurative, colourful or monotone....there are no mistakes and this class is suitable for absolute beginners as well as the most experienced of artists.

£25 (includes fabric, threads, bondaweb, lace, buttons and beads).

Please bring any special pieces of fabric or ribbons, buttons, beads or threads or even any small photographs you'd like to incorporate into your work to make it unique and personal to you. Feel free to bring your sewing machine and/or embellisher; or choose to work by hand. (The Texere sewing machine will be available for the class to share).

You'll create at least one postcard in this class....maybe several, depending on the intricacy of your work.
