Texere Troon Aran Wool Felted Bag & Purse Knitting Pattern 004

Texere Troon Aran Wool Felted Bag & Purse Knitting Pattern 004

£1.50

Here is a knitting pattern for a felted bag and purse using Texere Troon Tweed aran. The yarn is used double for the bag meaning you'll have it knitted up in no time and the little purse only uses one ball - so great, quick gifts. The transformation of the non-felted bag when you take it out of the washing machine is brilliant and the rigidity of the bag means it doesn't even need lining! All the shades of Troon are marled or tweedy, so even if you don't want stripes you could achieve a lovely textured effect with very little effort.

Islay is spun from 90% wool with 10% nylon for strength making it an excellent yarn for all types of crafts. It is available in a wide range of bright colours with a gentle hint of natural lustre. Islay is particularly good for weaving in both the warp and weft (with approx 15 ends per cm or 38 eds per inch), and is also ideal for tapestry and tablet weaving. It will make strong braids and cords and can be used for different types of jewellery and knotting. Knit or crochet into very fine wraps, throws and accessories. 2/18wc, 20/2nm or approx 1ply (or laceweight) with 1820m per cone, making it similar, but much finer than Jura.

**Whilst Islay is a yarn we can continue to buy on a regular basis, we are not always able to repeat exact shades from batch to batch, so order enough for your project as there are no dye lots, and some shades my go out of stock for some time.

Olympia Chunky - Texere's newest yarnOlympia Chunky - Texere's newest yarn
This gorgeous yarn is spun from 100% lambswool and is available in the most delectable range of colourways. Olympia is a chunky, roving style yarn with glorious combinations creating marls and subtle colour blends throughout. It has the look of Rowan Colourscape or Noro Iro which are both chunky yarns, so you could knit to these patterns or any chunky pattern, just check your tension first. Being pure wool Olympia felts brilliantly to create thick, soft felted pieces. The yarn isn't a slub, but has a handspun feel with thicker and thinner sections to create a fabulous, slightly textured finish, meaning every garment will be unique. There can also be quite an amazing variation from batch to batch, so please ensure you order enough to complete your project as orders will be picked by eye because there are no dye lots. As with any colourspun yarn it is not possible use the air-splicing technique so the occasional knot will occur.
