Texere Troon Aran Wool Felted Bag & Purse Knitting Pattern 004

Texere Troon Aran Wool Felted Bag & Purse Knitting Pattern 004

£1.50

Here is a knitting pattern for a felted bag and purse using Texere Troon Tweed aran. The yarn is used double for the bag meaning you'll have it knitted up in no time and the little purse only uses one ball - so great, quick gifts. The transformation of the non-felted bag when you take it out of the washing machine is brilliant and the rigidity of the bag means it doesn't even need lining! All the shades of Troon are marled or tweedy, so even if you don't want stripes you could achieve a lovely textured effect with very little effort.

Contemporary Lace for You by Jane Atkinson
Contemporary Lace for You by Jane Atkinson
The publication of Contemporary Lace for You is the culmination of a quarter-century of experimentation into the possibilities for modern use contained within traditional Torchon lace technique. The book covers the widest possible range in one publication - inspiration, design, thread choices, handling colour, drawing exciting grids to add dynamic movement to our work and solving problems, through to 'finishing' and choosing equipment. The book puts you, the reader, in personal control of design techniques and the choice of threads, colours and grids. There is also an examination of the creative process, and the twists and turns we can take through a project as we seek answers to the questions hidden inside it. Included is a close look at fibres, which examines methods of calibrating and evaluating the yarns you come across so that you can fit them to the grids in your lace, understand their special properties and use these to enhance your lacemaking. This is backed-up by a four-page yarn chart which gives you Jane's feedback on types she has used herself. Photographed on location in the landscape which inspired Jane’s interest in exploring natural patterns and images, it aims to demonstrate that this increasingly popular medium can be practical, colourful, useful and fun. Gorgeous! £25.00

Tradition into Creation Book 2
Tradition into Creation Book 2
Bobbin Lace – Fabulous, Fantastic and Fun! Fashion Items made with the New Fabric is the way Jacqui introduces her second Tradition into Creation book. In this second volume she is inspiring you to use your creations in lots of beautiful projects. Although there are lots of patterns the author is very keen for the lace-maker to take these purely as a guide and to play around with ideas, yarns, texture and colour. Projects include wall-hangings, cushions, lots of bags, belts, purses and lots of scarves. Jacqui uses many of our yarns, particularly our Variety Bags - which are a perfect length to create a skinny scarf. It’s a fabulous way to show how such a traditional craft can be transformed by an enthusiastic writer. £14.95

Victorian Lace Today
Victorian Lace Today
Jane Sowerby - See how lace knitting evolved from the 1830s to the 1900s, then knit today's way in the yarns and colours you love.
Jane began researching Victorian Lace over 10 years ago and has dedicated this book to the pioneering Victorian women who wrote the first knitting books.
The book is glorious to read and look at (as well as knitting from)! The photographs are all taken in historic British settings providing the perfect backdrop to the knitwear featured.
There are 40 designs to knit concentrating mainly on delicate and beautiful shawls and scarves, capes and stoles. As you would imagine many of the designs use fine yarns, so our DY171, angora, spun silk yarns and 2ply lambswool would all make excellent yarns to choose. All the designs give lots of detailed instructions for these captivating items that you will want to treasure forever.
Our publisher encouraged us to buy this book as she said it is the best selling knitting book in America!! Needless to say we sold out within the first week of putting them on the shelves and had to wait for new stocks to arrive before we could get it online! £21.99

Tradition into Creation
Tradition into Creation
Bobbin Lace - Big, Bold & Beautiful by Jacqui Barber. This is a fantastic new book by a renowned teacher, tutor and demonstrator of all aspects of bobbin lace. She was the chairman of the Lace Guild until 2004 and edits the Young Lacemaker magazine.
Jacqui has developed her own style with tradtional Torchon lace, creating a new fabric for the new millennium.
The book is beautifully illustrated with gloriously colourful photography showing source material, works in progress, close ups of textured detail and final finished pieces.
Within the book there are basic Torchon techniques, themes and colours, projects, new ideas and suggestions of how to take them further. There are starter projects and samplers and then the main designs are scarf projects in nine different designs. The yarns Jacqui uses are thick, textured, colourful and a real leap from tradtional lacemaking. She found our Variety Bags to be a great starting point as they are colour-co-ordinated and the perfect length for a scarf (you just need three). We saw Jacqui wearing one of her fantastic Variety Bag scarf creations at the lace show in December and it looked amazing.
The purpose of this book is to allow lacemakers to experiment with these ideas, on their own, and to lead them into new thinking for themselves. Something new - big, bold and beautiful! So buy the book and a few Variety Bags and get cracking! £14.95
