Union Jack Bag Pattern

Union Jack Bag Pattern

£2.00

What better way to show your dedication to British farmers, sheep and yarns than by making a union flag bag?! The red, white and blue really says everything you need it to say, but if you fancy being more individual play around with subtle or wacky colour and texture combinations. Felting is a fun way to transform soft yarns into practical accessories by just throwing them in the washing machine! Texere Troon Tweed is spun in oil, so knits very easily and totally changes when washed. Texere Airedale Aran is softer, without flecks and felts even easier. Try combining the two for unusual textures & effects.
This pattern has two designs included - red-white-blue & Green style bags

Victorian Lace Today
Victorian Lace Today
Jane Sowerby - See how lace knitting evolved from the 1830s to the 1900s, then knit today's way in the yarns and colours you love.
Jane began researching Victorian Lace over 10 years ago and has dedicated this book to the pioneering Victorian women who wrote the first knitting books.
The book is glorious to read and look at (as well as knitting from)! The photographs are all taken in historic British settings providing the perfect backdrop to the knitwear featured.
There are 40 designs to knit concentrating mainly on delicate and beautiful shawls and scarves, capes and stoles. As you would imagine many of the designs use fine yarns, so our DY171, angora, spun silk yarns and 2ply lambswool would all make excellent yarns to choose. All the designs give lots of detailed instructions for these captivating items that you will want to treasure forever.
Our publisher encouraged us to buy this book as she said it is the best selling knitting book in America!! Needless to say we sold out within the first week of putting them on the shelves and had to wait for new stocks to arrive before we could get it online! £21.99

A great book for anyone wanting to knit lace and lacy patterns, but using very fine as well as chunky weight yarns to give texture and beautiful design details. £17.99

Tradition into Creation
Tradition into Creation
Bobbin Lace - Big, Bold & Beautiful by Jacqui Barber. This is a fantastic new book by a renowned teacher, tutor and demonstrator of all aspects of bobbin lace. She was the chairman of the Lace Guild until 2004 and edits the Young Lacemaker magazine.
Jacqui has developed her own style with tradtional Torchon lace, creating a new fabric for the new millennium.
The book is beautifully illustrated with gloriously colourful photography showing source material, works in progress, close ups of textured detail and final finished pieces.
Within the book there are basic Torchon techniques, themes and colours, projects, new ideas and suggestions of how to take them further. There are starter projects and samplers and then the main designs are scarf projects in nine different designs. The yarns Jacqui uses are thick, textured, colourful and a real leap from tradtional lacemaking. She found our Variety Bags to be a great starting point as they are colour-co-ordinated and the perfect length for a scarf (you just need three). We saw Jacqui wearing one of her fantastic Variety Bag scarf creations at the lace show in December and it looked amazing.
The purpose of this book is to allow lacemakers to experiment with these ideas, on their own, and to lead them into new thinking for themselves. Something new - big, bold and beautiful! So buy the book and a few Variety Bags and get cracking! £14.95
