Debbie Bliss Magazine Spring/Summer 2010

Debbie Bliss Magazine Spring/Summer 2010

£4.50

This is the fourth magazine by Debbie Bliss and once again she has produced a beautiful issue to get us into that springtime feel. She says, "The new Spring issue of my magazine has a personal feel to it as last year my daughter Nell and I stayed with friends on Long Island and the beautiful light, relaxed ambience and stunning views inspired the fashion feature Creme de la Creme, relaxed knits for the perfect weekend, in classic shades of cream and stone. In keeping with the coastal theme the home section Hamptons Home has nautical style throws, cushions, bunting and a great carry bag for the beach. Top Tanks features sophisticated knits which are perfect to give a touch of class to your holiday wardrobe. In contrast to the pale beauty of the East Coast we have Moroccan Sunset, a collection of knits shot in the sun drenched desert of North Africa, in my earth and people friendly organic Fairtrade yarn Eco Aran. I have also launched a finer version of the aran weight Eco Baby which is soft against a child's skin and therefore perfect for Pure and Simple, four easy knits in summery sorbet shades for toddlers. There are 35 knits, 18 new designs and some of the most popular styles from previous collections plus the regular features and new ones such as a fascinating article on knitting in Elizabethan England." Eco Aran and Eco Baby are both available from Texere as well as Debbie’s classic tweeds for sumptuous wintery knitwear.

The Yarn Book

The Yarn Book

£15.99

Penny Walsh. If you ever wanted to know what a snarl or a gimp is, what the difference between woollen and worsted spinning is or what mercerising and sizing mean then this is the book for you.
Yarns are an integral part of any work done in the field of textiles - whether it be weaving, sewing, dyeing or knitting. The ply, tensile strength, weight, elasticity, water-, heat- and shrink-resistance of yarns all have an important impact on the final result of any work.
In this book Penny Walsh explores yarns, their history, production methods, fibre content and the new advances that are constantly being made.
She also provides practical instructions for making your own threads and yarns, with detailed making sequences and helpful step-by-step illustrations.
The book is illustrated throughout with diagrams and photographs of how yarns are spun, plus images of manufacturing processes and finished yarns and fabrics. Whilst this is a very useful book for anyone wanting to spin their own yarns it is also a fascinating read and an excellent source book for anyone interested in yarns - whether buying, dyeing, weaving or knitting etc - invaluable!

Union Jack Bag Pattern

Union Jack Bag Pattern

£2.00

What better way to show your dedication to British farmers, sheep and yarns than by making a union flag bag?! The red, white and blue really says everything you need it to say, but if you fancy being more individual play around with subtle or wacky colour and texture combinations. Felting is a fun way to transform soft yarns into practical accessories by just throwing them in the washing machine! Texere Troon Tweed is spun in oil, so knits very easily and totally changes when washed. Texere Airedale Aran is softer, without flecks and felts even easier. Try combining the two for unusual textures & effects.
This pattern has two designs included - red-white-blue & Green style bags

Crocheted Bag for Life Pattern

Crocheted Bag for Life Pattern

£1.00

Bin those plastic bags and crochet your own bag that you can carry wherever you go. The bag is crocheted using a fishnet stitch that expands to hold lots of goodies and folds up into a small package that will fit in your handbag. We’ve suggested Texere C4 linen as it’s strong, available in lots of colours and is a brilliant price, although you could use any cotton, linen or bamboo type yarn. You could make a multi-coloured version for a summery beach bag.

Making A Purchase The yarns and products on our website fall into the following three categories:

Regular Yarns - These are repeatable stock and branded yarns, available for as long as our suppliers produce them (dye lots may vary over time).

Special Purchase - Stock and branded lines where limited amounts are available. Many of these lines are unrepeatable and are marked with a "orange blob". Please make sure you order sufficient quantities to complete your project, because when these yarns have sold out, they cannot be repeated.

Sale Clearance - Guaranteed to be unrepeatable! All clearance yarns have been dramatically reduced in price to reflect their position (dye lots may vary within batches).

Buying!
On the left hand side of every page are the departments of our site. The three main sections are "Shop by Fibre", "Shop by Craft" and "Shop by Brand" or you can use the search box (please refer to the Site Guide for help using our site). When you have added everything to your basket click through to the checkout and select the appropriate delivery instructions and postal rates (See Postage & Packing for more information).

Before you finally check out you will have the opportunity to request a particular dye lot, if required. Type in the lot, telling us which yarn it refers to and we will endeavour to match it. If we don't have that lot we will send the closest unless otherwise advised. Most yarn companies have very accurate dyeing from batch to batch, and you can rarely tell the difference, but we will try and match where possible.

Paying
When you are ready to pay you are directed to Sage Pay (the new name for Protx). You will see all the payment options, including PayPal. Everything is secure, just follow the instructions as requested. At this point we take full payment for your order, if anything is out of stock or unavailable we will contact you and issue a refund or suggest an alternative (see Out of Stock Items for further information).

Once your order is complete, you will receive two emails - one from Texere Yarns confirming your order and delivery details and another from SagePay confirming your payment. If your confirmation does not arrive please check your "Junk", "Spam" or "Bulk" folders and mark as "Not Spam" or "Trusted Sender".

If you would prefer to send us a cheque or postal order in payment of your order please calculate the total as described above, including the relevant postage rates. Then print out the shopping basket screen or write out an order and send us a cheque or postal order made out to "Texere Yarns Ltd".
Shipping And Handling Post and packing charges are one of the main downsides to mail order shopping, but we are at the mercy of Royal Mail and Parcelforce and their charges and zones, so we have changed our system to make it as fair as possible. It is calculated on the weight of your order and is charged according to Royal Mail's current prices, plus a small charge for processing the order and packaging.

UK Rates
Unlike our previous system the postage will change with each item you add to your shopping basket up to a maximum of approx 2000g. This means that if you need one ball to complete a project you just pay approx £1.50, nearly half the price of our previous system. Orders up to approx 2000g will be despatched by Royal Mail, and orders over 2000g will be sent using Parcelforce at a flat rate (depending on whether you have chosen 24 or 48 hours), so add as much to your basket once over 2000g and the postage will remain the same - up to 30kg. (See rates below).

In our shopping basket the UK has been divided into sections to reflect the postal zones adopted by Parcelforce. (Please note that these zones do not affect Royal Mail orders, only parcels over approx 2000g). For the past 17 years we have charged exactly the same for a Parcelforce delivery to Leeds and to Shetland, but the charges have increased so much that we now have to differentiate between these zones. Please select the appropriate "Country" and then relevant "Post Zone", then choose 1st class, 2nd class, Special Delivery, Parcelforce 24 hour or Parcelforce 48 and the basket will reflect the chosen rate. (See Delivery Information for expected delivery times). We apologise for our system being a little fiddly, but it's the best way to make it as fair as possible. Please note that there are free postage rates for each zone to help soften the blow:

Export Rates
Unlike our previous system the postage will change with each item you add to your shopping basket up to a maximum of approx 2000g. Orders up to approx 2000g will be despatched by Royal Mail Small Packet Post, then orders over this weight will be sent using Parcelforce. Some zones have a flat rate (see below) which means you can order as much as you like up to 30kg and the postage will remain the same - if you have used our site before you will notice that many of these are now reduced in price. Other zones are calculated per item added and the shopping basket will calculate this for you:

Delivery Information We aim to despatch all orders within 3 working days and you will receive an email when this has happened. If, for any reason, this cannot be met we will contact you (see Out of Stock Items & Back Orders). If you have not received your order (or a message or email from us) within 7 working days of placing the order please contact us.

Your chosen "Class of Service" (postage rate) will come into effect when your order is ready for despatch. All orders are treated equally and we despatch orders by the date they have been placed, regardless of the chosen postage rate (except Special Delivery**). So if you place an order on a Tuesday afternoon requesting Parcelforce 24, we will send it Parcelforce 24, but not necessarily on that day.

Royal Mail 1st and 2nd class
These services are not guaranteed, but are usually pretty reliable. Please ensure you are at home to receive your delivery, or give instructions where it can be left safely - such as with a neighbour. If you are not at home Royal Mail will leave a card so that you can collect or arrange re-delivery.

Parcelforce 24 and 48 hour
These are guaranteed services, require a signature and will not be left without one, so ensure someone is at your delivery address to receive the parcel. Parcelforce 24 will be delivered before 5.30pm, whereas there is no stated time for 48 hour, but usually expect delivery between 8am-6pm, although this can vary from area to area. If you are not home Parcelforce will leave a card so that you can arrange re-delivery. If parcels are returned to us undelivered we will contact you and discuss postal charges to re-send the parcel (depending on individual circumstances). If you live in a slightly more remote part of the country Parcelforce's 24 and 48 hour services can take longer to arrive. Click for details:

**Royal Mail Special Delivery
If you need you order very quickly and guaranteed before 1pm, Special Delivery is the best choice. When you have selected your items and clicked through to the Checkout choose Special Delivery and the Shopping Basket will calculate the total. Proceed with your order in the usual way. You must place your order before 2pm to ensure we will despatch it on that day. If it's after 2pm it will be sent the following
working day.

Special Delivery parcels are delivered Monday - Friday (excluding Bank Holidays etc). For example if you place an order at 1.30pm on Thursday, we will send it on that day and will arrive before 1pm on Friday. If you place an order at 3.30pm on Thursday, we will send it on Friday and it will arrive before 1pm on Monday. Special Delivery parcels require a signature and will not be left without one, so ensure someone is at your delivery address to receive the parcel.

Royal Mail Small Packet Post - Export
This is not a guaranteed service, but delivery estimations (from leaving our office) are up to 10 working days to Western Europe, up to 15 working days to Eastern Europe and up to 28 working days for the Rest of the World. Delivery standards and industrial action vary from country to country, so these are guidelines, not guarantees.

Parcelforce Euro 48 (Euro Priority Business) & International Scheduled (Global Priority)
These are guaranteed services, require a signature and will not be left without one, so ensure someone is at your delivery address to receive the parcel. We use Euro 48 for all the countries that we can and International Scheduled for all other destinations. These are not always the cheapest services, but they are guaranteed and ensure you receive your parcel in good time. Click this link and enter your country to check when to expect your parcel (after it has left our office):
http://www.parcelforce.com/portal/pw/worldwidedirectory?catId=19300174&campaignid=wwd&gear=worldwidedirectory

Lost or Missing Parcels
Cards are not always left by carriers, and your order could be sitting in a depot waiting for you! Please so not hesitate to contact us if you have not received your order when it is expected so we can investigate on your behalf. If your order has been sent by Royal Mail we would ask that you check with your local Post Office in case your parcel is waiting for you there. If we need to re-send your order we always prefer to send it to an alternative address - if it didn't get delivered once, it might not get delivered again. We are happy to send to work or college, friend's or family's addresses. If the original parcel subsequently arrives we ask that you "Refuse" it so that it comes back to us without costing you anything.
Out of Stock & Back Orders If a product you have ordered is out of stock, we will contact you to let you know when we expect new stocks to arrive. You can have the missing items put on back order to be sent when available at no extra charge. If a product has sold out and will not be available again we will contact you to offer an alternative. In both cases you will always have the option to be issued with a refund.

In all of these cases we will never make a decision without contacting you first. Our preferred method of contact is by phone so we can discuss the alternatives or leave a message where possible. However, if you prefer not to leave your phone number we will email you (see Privacy Policy). Most email service providers have aggressive spam filters, so if you haven't received your order or heard from us within our stated time frame (see Delivery Information) please check your "Junk", "Spam" or "Bulk" folders for an email from us and mark as "Not Spam" or "Trusted" for the future.
Tax Charges All prices are shown inclusive of 15% VAT (Value Added Tax).

UK & EU Customers
All customers within the European Union pay UK VAT (unless you are VAT registered - in which case please contact us for details of how to order).

Non-EU & Channel Islands Customers
All non-EU residents and residents of the Channel Islands do not pay VAT for orders delivered to a residential address (you may be liable for import tax and duty at the rate set by your government). To be eligible for VAT deduction we must send the parcel directly to an address outside the European Union.

IMPORTANT
Our new website works in a slightly different way from our old one, so even if you have shopped with us before please read the following instructions carefully. You will need to apply for an account in order to have the correct rate of VAT deducted from your order. Follow the link from our home page and fill in your email address (this will be your login name), type New Account in the subject box and send it through to us. Account requests will only be dealt with during office hours as it isn't an automated system, so please be patient. Once you have your details through you can begin shopping. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused, but once your account is set up you will be able to order easily and quickly and pay zero VAT!

The above applies to you unless you live in one of the following countries (as these are the only countries in the EU):

Austria Belgium Bulgaria Cyprus Czech Republic Denmark Estonia Finland France Germany Greece
Hungary Ireland Italy Latvia Lithuania Luxembourg Malta Netherlands Poland Portugal Romania
Slovakia Slovenia Spain Sweden United Kingdom (excluding Channel Islands
Credit Card Security All credit card transactions are handled by Sage Pay (the new name for Protx). Sage Pay is the largest independent Payment Service Provider in the UK. Sage Pay adheres to the most stringent levels of fraud screening, ensuring that your details remain secure throughout the transaction process. Sage Pay is so secure, we don't have access to your card number!
Guarantee We guarantee that we scan actual balls and cones of yarn where possible to give you the most accurate indication of colour, but the images on our website are for guidance only and are not necessarily to scale. Images should be viewed along with the descriptions of colour (Texere's violet is not necessarily the same as Sirdar's violet) and thickness given for each product (if we say DK, it's DK even if the image looks too thick!) The settings of your monitor (brightness, contrast, colour settings) will influence the way the images appear on your screen and we suggest purchasing a catalogue and sending us a sample if you need to match a particular yarn.

We will happily refund the value of unused yarns returned (full balls, cones or bags etc) if you are not satisfied with the colour, but we regret that we cannot refund any postage charges (unless we have made an error - see Returns Policy). Always order sufficient yarn to complete a project as dye lots change and we cannot guarantee to match the same dye at a later date.

Meterages are guides and not precise units.

We would always advise knitting and washing a tension square before commencing knitting, especially if using a yarn that is an alternative to the brand used in the pattern.

Whilst we are happy to give advice on product use, we cannot accept liability as conditions of use are totally outside our control.

All prices on our site are current and guaranteed. We cannot budget for events outside our control and may at any time adjust prices, but if prices differ from those in our catalogue the website price applies. From time to time incorrect prices may appear, if wrong we reserve the right to charge the correct retail price having contacted you first.

Incorrectly Sent & Faulty Goods
We try to pick and check orders as accurately as possible, but inevitably mistakes sometimes happen, so we aim to sort out the mistake quickly and efficiently. We also take great care to ensure the quality of the products we sell, but from time to time there may be faults. Please contact us if you have been sent incorrect or faulty items (by phone or email), then return them to us when we will issue a refund or replacement item and refund all postage charges.

To return goods, please package them securely and send them to Texere Yarns Ltd, College Mill, Barkerend Road, Bradford, BD1 4AU.
