COLOUR TECHNIQUES FOR ADVANCED KNITTERS WITH DIANE COLOVER
01.10.11 MORNING WORKSHOP (10am-12.45pm)

Stash Busting with Intarsia, Fairisle & Clever Colourwork - learn the tricks of intarsia knitting and discover how effective it is at using up your stash! You will learn the basic techniques of knitting with two or more yarns at once, without making holes or getting into a tangled mess! We shall look at blending yarns of different colour, thickness and texture to achieve various different effects from gentle gradients to sharp contrasts. This is a great way to use up all those leftovers in your wool stash! The charts are simple and the knitting is basic.

£27 (includes some yarn and a full instruction booklet).

Please bring any sized balls of yarn (in any thickness or texture) from your stash that you would like to use up and a pair of 4mm or 5mm needles.

You'll come away with lots of ideas, new skills and some knitted samples.

EMBELLISHING WITH CLAIRE KETTEMAN
01.10.11 AFTERNOON WORKSHOP (1.15pm-4pm)

Customise a Cardigan (or any other piece of knitwear ready for a new lease of life!) Embroider, embellish and enhance an old cardigan! Learn some new tricks and take away plenty of ideas to change a plain item of clothing into something individual and totally gorgeous.

Three or 4 workstations around the room will give you the opportunity to try several different techniques depending on your skill or interests, building up the embellishment and detail. These will include appliqué with a machine or bondaweb and hand sewing; machine embroidered lace using dissolving fabric; ribbons or making ribbon flower; felted flowers; crochet or knitted trims.

£27 (includes fabrics, threads, yarns, fibre, buttons & beads).

Please bring a knitted garment (it doesn't have to be a cardigan, but cardigans have lots of scope for experimentation)! It can be a brand new, shop-bought plain item, or a an old loved garment, or something you spotted in a charity shop that you would like to transform. If you have any small scraps of ribbons, threads, buttons or lace that you would like to include please bring these along too.

You'll go home with lots of new skills depending on which work stations you choose. Your item will be partially completed by the end of the workshop depending on level of skill and complexity of project, ready for you to complete at home with your new found skills and ideas.

Have you ever fancied learning to knit socks, but felt like you needed a guiding hand? These are the workshops for you. This clever three part workshop will have you hand knitting easy socks in no time.

The first session involves mastering four needles, casting on and getting ready to knit. You'll then have time to knit the straight, easy bit at home then come back for the next crucial technique of the heel, more straight knitting at home, then the final part of the toe!

£50 (includes your three sessions, self-patterning yarn, double-pointed needles plus a bound A4 instruction manual with a personalised knitting pattern that can easily be adjusted to fit any size).
